Soh Chee Hui
Born 1967 in Malaysia, work in Singapore
Soh Chee Hui graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore in 1990 and received his Masters Degree in Fine Arts at the University of Birmingham, UK, in 1996. He was recipient of the Freeman Foundation Asian Fellowship in 2003 for residency at the Vermont Studio Center, USA.
For Chee Hui, simple things we encounter every day are witnesses of events and are vessels holding on to our memories. Each object has a story hidden within but he has no intention of revealing the plot. His beautifully painted works functions like poems where all elements come together harmoniously creating a tranquil moment for contemplation.
